When serious, or potentially serious situations occur in the workplace, how you handle them can make a big difference in the outcome. Managing these situations early and effectively can sometimes prevent them from becoming worse. In addition, responding using the systems we have in place will help protect others and the company from serious harm.
Critical Incident Preparedness Guide
Our Critical Incident Preparedness Guide is a valuable resource. It includes information on handling workplace emergencies and violence, helping employees handle stress and anger, dealing with workplace trauma and coping with loss at work.
Accessing the EAP in the event of a traumatic incident
You can access the EAP 24 hours a day through your dedicated support number. When you speak to an employee assistance specialist, indicate that your organization needs services following a traumatic incident. The specialist will ask you general information about the type of incident and your contact information before connecting you to the EAP counselor specifically trained on CIRS. You may also request services following a traumatic incident by completing the Critical Incident Response Services Order Form online.
Presentation/Support Materials EAP Clients
To assist you further, we are providing a PDF you may download and share with managers and supervisors to help them understand and support affected employees.
